Samuel Wyatt ''Sammy'' Garner, Jr. 63, formerly of Roanoke Rapids, died Monday, March 14, 2011.

Sammy was born in Halifax County, the son of the late Samuel Wyatt Garner, Sr. and Inez Wheeler Garner. He was also preceded in death by his son, Curtis Wyatt ''Curt'' Garner. He was a U. S. Army veteran.

He is survived by three sisters, Jo G. Wrenn and her husband, Mason, of Roanoke Rapids, Kitty G. Duke of Conway, and Linda G. Crutchlow and her husband, Herbie, of Roanoke Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.

A committal service was held at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.
